It is simple and cost-effective, but it can be difficult to control – especially in modern, airtight buildings or during extreme weather conditions.

Mechanical ventilation, on the other hand, uses fans to bring in fresh air and remove stale air. These systems can include exhaust fans, air purifiers, or full ventilation units with heat recovery. They provide consistent air quality throughout the year but require installation, maintenance, and power.
